48hr Film Project Finals

Tonight is the finals for the 48HR Film Project. The winners of the various categories including ‘Best Film’ will be announced at the end of the screening. The Audience Award for each of the three groups is:

Audience Award Group A
“Ninja in D minor”
Martial Arts
Steal a Sheep Productions
Zeek Earl

Audience Award Group B
“Tooth and Nail”
Cinema Syndicate
Sean McGrath

Audience Award Group C
“On the Wrong Foot”
Silent Film
Lazy Eye Films
Steve Coker

Personally I’m rooting for “Tooth and Nail”. It had a big cast for such a short film with appearances by a dozen local actors, comics and improvisers. It stars John Breen of Hoskins and Breen. It also has two wonderfully funny supporting actress performances, one by Shelley Besemann of The Liberators and the other by Tricia Ferguson of Live Wire. Either of those ladies could win best actress.

“Tooth and Nail” also features the original kick ass song “I’m An American Bat” written and performed by Ralph Huntley of Klezmocracy and Jim Bruenbeg of Mississippi Studios who also provides the vocals. It has to win best song.

I’m so excited! It’s going to be a ton of fun! Come down to the Hollywood Theatre tonight and cheer for your favorites! The show starts tonight at 7PM. You better get a ticket early, the last showing sold out.
