Division/Clinton Street Fair

I’m a total dork when it comes to street fairs and parades and am really excited about the upcoming Division/Clinton Street Fair happening in my neighborhood this Saturday. They are going to have a parade that starts at 11:00am up on 49th and Division and then proceeds down to 21st, takes a left on Clinton, then ends on 27th with a performance by The Last Regiment, who are an awesome marching drum band .

There’s supposed to be a bunch of booths, entertainment and probably lots of booze if it is anything like last year. I took the picture above at the dunk tank by Reel Em Inn. I really liked the matching body shapes and stances. I guess one reason I like street fairs is because there are so many opportunities to take pictures of people who are having fun and letting it loose. Last year there was an awesome huge roadie guy who was making a big fuss about moving equipment for one of the musicians, and reminded me of Chris Farley’s character Milton in Wayne’s World 2. I couldn’t get a good shot because he kept moving around so fast.

It should be interesting to see what all the new businesses on Division and Clinton bring to the fair this year. I’m hoping for a lot more food booths, beer gardens, white people with dreadlocks, and people full of ennui wearing ironic vintage t-shirts. Should be fun!

Street fairs are for suburban poseurs.

You should probably tell that to the many many many residents of Manhattan, NYC.

Then I’d run really fast, as you’ll be pelted with all kinds of street fair, um, collateral…!

Keith “suburban poseurs” is an oxymoron.

Actually, that oughtta be a pretty good freakfest. If I didn’t have to work, I’d be with the tweaks for that one, hippy dancing to the tinkle bells, dijeridus, and ubiquitous drummers in their tie-dyed patchouli-stink splendor. Oh, and I’d be thumpin me some mimes, making Shakes proud.

Oh, and Keithy, I’m sorry you got a head like a potato, I really am.
