Left of the Dial

One of the things I love about living here is the sheer amount of local acts in a variety of genres. Thanks to sites like the Willamette Week’s Local Cut and monthly free showcases curated by In Music We Trust at the Doug Fir, I’ve had an opportunity to check out a lot of bands. Thanks to last month’s showcase, I became a fan of Von Super.

Now, KINK FM is offering the opportunity to submit up to three of your favorite local bands to be considered for inclusion on their forthcoming local music CD sampler. If you’re in a band, you can snail-mail a sample of your music to KINK for consideration, too. Put those thinking caps on and get your submissions in by Friday, February 29 (leap year!).

Interesting to see KINK jump into the local music fray. Are they trying to compete with OPB who’s doing lots for local music now, including local performances in studio and their 24/7 stream?

We have been to a few In Music We Trust shows and have never been disappointed. I wish other groups or even production companies would offer free introductions to new music. Luckily we have had the opportunity to see some wonderful free shows at the Doug Fir Thanks for the info on KINK.
