Divebarwife moved to Portland in 1998 as Divebargirl. Portland was the first place she called home of her own choosing – rather than due to a job, or school, or family. She decided that she needed to get out of the Midwest and that Portland would suit her to a “T.” She’d never been to Oregon, so she checked it out first - one beautiful dry, 70 degree weekend in Feb – then flew back to Iowa and dug her car out of 16 inches of snow. Decision made. Two months later she was driving west. In 2001 she met the man to change her from Divebargirl to Divebarwife. They have a cute little house in NE Portland with 2 dogs and no plans for kids. The thriving music scene was one of many reasons that brought them both to Portland – so they have made a vow that they will never decide they can’t go see a show they’re interested in simply because it’s too late or on a “school night.”
